Position Overview: 

The Technical Writer position works as resource specialist in writing for the Service Design Organization.  The position will create, edit, post, maintain, and organize Service technical content within the Knowledge Base system.  The individual must have the ability to grasp complex technical concepts and develop easily understandable text and pictures for users. 

 
Responsibilities:

Write, edit and organize Service technical information in Knowledge Base system - 70%

  • Partners with Service Design Organization to create, edit, review and improve the quality of Service technical information posted
  • Liaise with content writers to ensure consistent voice and tone throughout Knowledge Base
  • Remains current on new developments in technical writing, editing, and publishing that may affect the corporation
  • Assists in preparing material for technical meetings or business forums.  May be called upon to assist in technical or business presentation in such meetings as business or customer needs require
 

Publishing information within Salesforce Knowledge Base system - 30%

  • Partners with Service Design Organization to publish Service technical content into Salesforce Knowledge Base system
  • Organizes and updates Service content in Knowledge Base system
  • Manage proper naming conventions, revision control and file storing within Knowledge Base system
  • Develops Training and documentation of how internal and external customers are to use the Knowledge Base

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in English, communications, publications or technical field required
  • Five (5) years writing/editing experience of professional writing position
  • OR a Master’s Degree with 3 years of writing/editing experience of professional writing position
  • Excellent written skills in English
  • Must be able to lawfully work within the U.S. and have unrestricted work authorization for U.S.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree in English, communications, publications or related field
  • Editorial certification
  • Proven work experience as a Content Manager
  • Experience in a service driven business environment
  • Experience with Salesforce.com and Knowledge Base system
  • Experience with Microsoft Office products (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
  • Experience with Adobe Presenter or equivalent presentation publishing software
  • Experience with Solidworks or equivalent CAD software
  • Experience with Camtasia Studio or other video editing software
