Required Qualifications:
  • Canadian or United States Law Degree (LLB or Juris Doctor (JD))

  • Member in good standing of a state bar and/or provincial law society (preference will go to members of the Law Society of Ontario)

  • At least 8 years of relevant, post-law school experience, including in an in-house corporate environment

  • Strong skills in interpreting, drafting and negotiating sophisticated agreements, and must have experience with software, cloud services and hosted technologies

  • Experience dealing with intellectual property, privacy and information security related issues

  • Proven ability to:
    • Cultivate relationships and collaborate within the legal department and on cross-functional teams, take a leadership role in driving solutions, and work under pressure to meet deadlines

    • work in a fast-paced and challenging environment for a results-driven, expanding company with very high expectations

    • organize, prioritize, and manage a high volume of projects effectively in line with corporate goals

    • resolve complex issues in creative ways

  • Ethical, superior interpersonal, analytical, organization and written and verbal communication skills with the ability to think strategically and give practical and business-oriented advice

  • Adaptable, flexible and comfortable with uncertainty and ambiguity

  • Ability to travel 10%

  • proven ability to draft and negotiate complex agreements, advise executive management, and facilitate teamwork by cultivating relationships, counseling, collaborating, and effectively communicating with teammates and cross-functional partners

  • Possessing strong communication and analytical skills, superior business sense, and the ability to resolve complex issues in creative and effective ways

  • It will be best suited for a self-starter who is curious, loves technology, and thrives in a dynamic, team-oriented environment

    Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bonus points for having experience in the following industries: financial institutions, government agencies and large enterprises
