Entrust Datacard is currently looking for a Senior DBA to join our Entrust Certificate Services vertical within the Cloud Services team, with strong Operations experienceThis position is based in our Canadian office (Kanata) and reports to the Senior Manager ECS, Cloud Services.  Entrust Certificate Services (ECS) is responsible for the deployment of all the application components of Entrust’s SSL cloud service offering including build out of new releases for the SSL product.

Position Overview:

The DBA will serve as a key member of the ECS Operations team and will be responsible for the design, deployment, and operations of all of the database infrastructure in Development, Pre-Production and Production environments for ECS.  The DBA will be responsible for all database infrastructure including:  transactional databases, data warehouses, and reporting infrastructure as well as data replication and extractions from these database infrastructures.  This role will work very closely with the ECS development and operations team members to ensure all releases are deployed efficiently, tested and documented thoroughly and operating effectively to ensure customer satisfaction with the service. Currently, the Entrust database infrastructure leverages MS SQL Server with Availability Groups to provide a highly-available, geographically-dispersed secure database solution.

  • Design of transactional database, data warehouse and associated reporting infrastructure to meet our high security, high availability requirements.

  • Design of database structures and replication, failover, backup, and extraction functions.

  • Product evaluation and selection for all database infrastructure requirements.

  • Creation of operations documentation and scripts for all database infrastructures.

  • Deployment and tuning of monitoring for critical database availability and performance thresholds and alarms.

  • Deployment of new databases, tables, replicas, and reports as required to meet new product requirements and operations initiatives.

  • Installation of SQL Server instances and service packs.

  • Ensure database servers are backed up and meet the business Recovery Time Objectives

  • Proactive management of the databases to ensure optimal SQL Server configuration.

  • Create performance baseline metrics and monitor performance problems.

  • Creation and/or execution of database scripts required to manipulate data for new releases

  • Testing and troubleshooting of application flow changes to support new product releases.

  • Creation and presentation of Change Advisory Board submissions for database modifications.

  • Systems testing of all new database infrastructures introduced via new Infrastructure builds, new releases, operations initiatives.

  • Monitoring and investigation of monitoring alarms/identified issues.

  • Working with other support, application, and infrastructure resources to investigate and troubleshoot Cloud Services issues.

  • Provide on-call support
  • Provide onsite off-hour support, if and when required.
Basic Qualifications:
  • College or University Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related discipline or equivalent work experience

  • 10+ years IT experience
  • 5+ years of DBA experience
  • 5+ years of Operations experience

  • 3+ years of High Availability, High Security, Internet Data Centre Experience and the requisite rigour needed to operate in that environment

  • Strong technical skills for all database, data warehouse, and reporting infrastructures

  • Strong technical skills in MS SQL Server 2017 and above

  • Strong technical skills in MS SQL Server Availability Groups

  • Proficient in MySQL
  • Must have unrestricted work authorization for US and ability to travel freely to the USA and internationally.

  • Ability to obtain a Government of Canada Security Clearance.

    Preferred Qualifications:
  • Strong Enterprise DB tools experience

  • Strong experience in efficient DB data structures and performance considerations

  • Strong general infrastructure skills including:  Windows Server, Windows AD, VMWare, and Linux

  • Knowledge of ITSM/ITIL
  • Global/International Data Center experience
