World-leading cyber security business nCipher Security is seeking talented software engineers to join its ranks in securing some of the world’s most valuable information. Based in central Cambridge near the railway station, the business provides vital, trusted crypto security systems to companies all over the world. Cryptography is the backbone of online and mobile security and our encryption products are used by 19 out of the 20 of the world’s largest banks, high profile technology companies and a multitude of well-known companies. An Agile approach is used in product development with engineers working in small teams of six to eight. This allows them to interact, collaborate, respond to change; and they are empowered to make decisions on a daily basis. nCipher Security also prides itself on encouraging and supporting innovation and creativity among its teams and the company is working in a number of exciting and emerging markets. 


  • Working as a member of an Agile team, you will create designs, implement code and unit tests 
  • In your team, you will work towards a common understanding of the design and participate in reviews to ensure the integrity and robustness of project deliverables 
  • You will develop software in a logical and controlled manner 
  • Participate in integration, verification and validation activities

  • System/Software Architects 
  • Engineering Managers 
  • The wider multi-discipline engineering team 

Qualifications and Experience 

  • You will be studying or have recently studied for a degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics or an adjacent subject 
  • Desirable areas of study or interest would be Cryptography and/or Computer Security techniques 

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Experience of design and programming on a variety of platforms and environments including Linux and Windows based operating systems 
  • Implementation experience on including use of multiple development languages (good C or Python highly desirable, Go/C++/Java also desirable) 
  • An interest in information systems security such as cryptography and/or computer security techniques 
  • Experience of Agile software development and associated software engineering practices 
  • Knowledge of containerization (for build / test / deployment) 
  • Familiarity with Test Driven Development practices 
  • Experience of micro and web service development 
  • The ability to analyze complex technical problems and offer innovative, reasoned and practical solutions to demanding requirements
  • Good interpersonal skills, including the ability to work in an Agile, multi-disciplinary team environment
