Position Overview: 

Entrust Datacard is seeking a passionate supply chain professional to lead its Sourcing in Japan (DCJ).  The Buyer is responsible for managing the spend in DCJ that ensure Entrust Datacard operations plans satisfy customer and financial objectives and that the material and services we acquire meet or exceed cost, quality and delivery requirements.

Key responsibilities require negotiating skills; understanding of manufacturing, understanding of ERP systems, MRP systems and fundamental cost accounting; the ability to translate our company Supply Chain vision into DCJ operations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepares bid packages, analyzes and evaluates proposals, negotiates terms and conditions, audits, selects suppliers, writes awards, administers resulting subcontracts based on total cost of ownership.
  • Participates in selection of suppliers who have the ability to meet delivery, quality, and cost requirements; integrating suppliers early in the design process; and eliminating barriers with suppliers that would negatively affect manufacture of the end product.
  • Confers with suppliers and analyzes suppliers’ operations to determine factors that affect prices and determines the lowest cost consistent with quality, reliability, and ability to meet required schedules.
  • Participates in developing negotiation strategy and skillfully utilizes techniques to achieve negotiation targets.
  • Works collaboratively with finance, service, engineering and sales department to support a purchases that meet EDC annual goals.
  • Administers and manages supplier contracts to ensure compliance externally and internally.
  • Monitors and supports the placement of purchase orders to maximize quality and service level while minimizing inventory.
  • Keeps abreast of market trends, changes in business practices in the assigned commodity, and new or altered types of materials.
  • Complies with all Quality policies while continuously identifying opportunities for improvement.
  • Resolves delivery and/or quality issues through problem solving and supplier performance improvements.
  • Identifies and eliminates non-value added steps using Lean methodology such as redundant part numbers and suppliers in Japan.

Basic Qualifications:

  • BA/BS
  • Minimum 8 years plus purchasing experience
  • Ability to lead teams, influence peers and other cross-functional teams
  • Energetic and self-motivated
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Demonstrated ability to utilize Microsoft Office applications; Microsoft Excel expertise a must
  • Sound knowledge and application of negotiation skills
  • Strong communication skills
  • Solid knowledge of supply chain requirements, systems, supplier development, and process improvement
  • Reads and understands both CAD 2D drawings as well as 3D models
  • Business level English skill, writing, reading and speaking
Preferred Qualifications:
  • MBA or Master’s Degree
  • APICS or ISM Certification
  • Oracle or SAP experience
  • Purchasing experience working in a fast paced Global Supply Chain environment
  • Manufacturing experience
