Position Overview: 

The Principal Software Developer will take a lead role in the technical requirements collection, design and development of mission critical software integrations supporting Entrust Datacard’s Financial Instant Issuance solution and related market development and expansion strategy in the Americas. Integrations include interface extensions for our core financial instant issuance software known as CardWizard, developed to the application program interface (APIs) of enterprise financial institutions and third-party banking core/CMS, switch, background processor, and digital issuance platforms and applications. This role includes providing consulting services to customers and third-party vendors using Entrust Datacard’s instant issuance API. In addition, this role will work in alignment with Entrust Datacard’s instant issuance product management, cloud services, security, and core software development teams on solution roadmap functionality and release cycle planning to ensure continuous compatibility across the integration library. The person in this role will use a combination of technical expertise and business acumen to promote team best practices, make timely decisions that reduce development cycle time, drive product consistency, and increase performance and quality assurance, while achieving forecast timelines and on time customer delivery.

Development / Architecture (70%)
  • Responsible for architectural oversight, establishing best practices and standards in a complex, global environment.
  • Provide team-specific feedback to management regarding solution architecture and best practices.
  • Participate in the design and implementation of components meant to be deployed in on premise and cloud environments.
  • Collaborate with product definition, development, quality assurance, security and related teams to design and build interfaces and drive service oriented architecture towards enterprise, multi-tenant, cloud-ready, performant and scalable commercial software integration products.
  • Apply knowledge of a variety of platforms, frameworks, paradigms and patterns to build maintainable commercial software integration/interface products at a rapid pace.
  • Define system and software requirements based on market requirements.
  • Design and develop software.
  • Assist in the estimation of work.
Process     (30%)
  • Work within a team environment using Agile software processes.
  • Act as subject matter expert and thought leader to management and other departments within the organization with respect to financial instant issuance integrations.
  • Work with internal vendor alliances and project management leadership on development project prioritization.
  • Produce detailed and accurate documentation relating to assigned projects and tasks.
  • Maintain a broad perspective and anticipate future challenges and opportunities.
  • Develop plans and strategies with a global perspective in mind.
  • Use creative approaches to solving problems.

Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, or equivalent technical degree.
  • 8+ years of software development experience.
  • 8+ years of experience with .NET and complex software troubleshooting tasks, direct customer interaction is a plus.
  • Experience with Object Oriented Analysis and Design.
  • Understands the concepts of business objects, layered design, data access objects, and design patterns.
  • Ability to lead cross-functional collaboration and teamwork.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills interacting periodically with internal stakeholders, vendors and enterprise customers.
  • Flexibility to manage dynamic project prioritization schedules.
  • Must have unrestricted work authorization for the United States.
  • Ability to travel up to 10%, both domestic and international.
Preferred Qualifications:
·         Experience with VB.NET and C#.
·         Experience with WCF, Entity Framework.
·         Experience with web service development and testing using tools such as SoapUI and Postman.
·         Experience with DevOps and Source Control tools such as Git and Jenkins.
·         Experience with financial card issuance, including smart card.
  • Experience with cloud deployed applications.
  • Experience with HSM and Security standards (PCI, ISO FIPS, TLS, CAPI or CNG) and Secure Coding Techniques.
  • Experience with Smart Card based Secure ID credential applications.
  • Master’s degree in computer science or other relevant field.
  • Experience with architecture modeling tools.
