The Payroll Analyst is responsible for various payroll activities, including but not limited to ensuring accuracy and compliance of internal controls and processes, processing biweekly payroll, and analyzing payroll results, systems and resolving problems and issues. This position requires strong attention to detail and accuracy, and the ability to analyze, troubleshoot, and communicate key findings. We are looking for an exceptional team player who has a strong understanding of payroll who can work independently and partner with the Payroll, Benefits and HRIS teams.


Responsibilities:

·     Processing of U.S. bi-weekly & monthly payroll for salaried and hourly employees completed timely and accurately.

·       

       Provide assistance with system maintenance, issues, patches and upgrades.

·       

       Generate, audit and review ad-hoc and pre-established payroll reports.  Create new reports as  needed directly or in partnership with HRIS or IT.


  • Participate in the Federal, State & Local payroll quarterly and annual tax reconciliation, payment, filing and tax audits.
  • Work with Finance team with payroll related account reconciliations.
  • Analyze, audit and reconciliation of payroll to ensure accuracy in payroll output.
  • Identify, recommend and implement process or system improvements according to organization goals, policies and procedures, and new laws and regulations.
  • Respond to payroll inquires in a timely manner.
  • Payroll research regarding taxes, laws and regulations.
  • Responsible for ongoing employee maintenance and earnings related to payroll processing via manual entry and uploads.

·     Responsible for processing manual checks, stop payments and terminations.


·     Interprets pay policies, (e.g., vacation, LOA, disability, workers compensation, government regulations, withholding exemptions, etc.) to ensure proper processing, payment and reporting.


·     Verifies compliance with federal and state payroll requirements; stays current with changes in the law.


·     Assist with audits of internal records, workers compensation, tax filings and related documentation.


·     Documents payroll processes and procedures.

  • Acts as backup to Payroll Manager and other department members as necessary.
  • Participate in project teams as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 



Basic Qualifications

  • Associate’s Degree in Accounting or related field.

·       Minimum 5 years of progressive experience in Payroll.

·       Minimum 2-3 years recent experience in multi-state payroll.

  • Substantial knowledge of MS Excel and other MS Office products.
  • Ability to show discretion with highly confidential information.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, prioritization, analytical, process flows and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge with Payroll and Time applications.
  • CPP/FPC certification.
  • Must be able to lawfully work within the US and have unrestricted work authorization for US.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

·  Extensive knowledge with Payroll and Time applications, specifically ADP Workforce Now.
