Manager of Transportation                                                                                                                                                             REQ# 180000LI
 
Position Overview: 
This position is responsible for the design and execution of Entrust Datacard’s Global Transportation network.  The Sr. Manager, Transportation will work closely with sales, customer service, project managers, trade compliance, manufacturing, supply chain and external resources in determining optimal strategy to meet internal and external transportation requirements while ensuring management of freight spend.  The Sr. Manager, Transportation uses analytical methods and a variety of tools to understand, predict, improve and/or control Transportation operations and processes. This position will continually seek the optimum balance between reducing transportation spend while balancing customer requirements, transit time and meeting corporate objectives.
 
Responsibilities:
Transportation Management                                                                                                                                  
  • Develop and implement Global Transportation strategy and policies to support business objectives of cost, quality, and customer experience
  • Drive freight cost reduction in international air and ocean, domestic LTL, domestic and international parcel through strategic vendor relationships, price negotiation, and global RFQ’s
  • Meet annual targets to reduce transportation as a percent of COGS globally as well as within international regions
  • Establish relationships with global leadership in APAC, EMEA and LATAM to maintain customer expectations while driving cost reductions in intra-Asia, intra-EMEA and LATAM transportation
  • Lead large, strategic cross-functional projects to improve efficiency in supply chain and transportation both in/out of US and international regions
  • Work with purchasing to improve balance of transportation and inventory carrying costs, shipping mode decisions as well as the cost effectiveness of those shipments and develop “landed cost” transportation data to support new sourcing decisions
  • Cross train to be able to support Global Hub Physical Inventories and Cycle Counts as necessary
  • Manage corporate outbound freight recovery objectives using BI reporting and data analysis to recognize freight spend and revenue increasing opportunities to maximize freight recovery
  • Work with international sales leaders to set transportation strategy and costs for Big Deals, bid preparation and large customer roll outs including government programs and customized customer programs.
  • Leads the corporate TMS performance, and execution of any software upgrade projects, partnering with IT for enhancements
  • Develop carrier scorecards to manage all aspects of carrier performance, cost, service and quality
  • Establish and report on all Transportation related KPI’s including but not limited to: Freight Recovery, Carrier Scorecards, Inbound Freight Cost Management, Expedite Freight spend
 
  • Perform general management responsibilities such as hiring, performance management, performance reviews, individual development activities, etc.
  • Monitor team performance against department standards, and ensure that these standards are consistently met or exceeded
  • Act as escalation point for issues and provide leadership and guidance in all areas of transportation
  • Develop and maintain relationships with EDC Sales leaders in every region globally
  • Provide necessary work direction and manage projects effectively through planning, organization and project management
Basic Qualifications
  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in international and domestic transportation
  • Experience running global RFQ’s across every mode of transportation
  • Proven track record running large projects and delivering results
  • Ability to travel internationally up to 20%
  • Must be able to lawfully work within the US and have unrestricted work authorization for US
     
Preferred Qualifications
  • Project Management Certifications
  • Ability to utilize data analytics and turn into actionable strategy
  • Willingness and ability to work at a strategic and tactical level
  • Logistics background working in a Manufacturing setting with multiple global locations
  • Experience traveling and solving logistics challenges outside of the U.S.
  • Experience in 3PL shipping software, system and workflow design
  • Experience with ERP systems (Oracle preferred)
  • Background utilizing BI reporting for enhanced data analytics
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel or other data analytic tools
  • Demonstrated ability to interact successfully with executive level management  internally, with vendors and with customers
  • Experience achieving objectives working in a global matrix organization  
  • Demonstrated excellent written, verbal and listening communication skills.
  • Analytical and creative problem resolution abilities
