Manager, Cloud Infrastructure

The Cloud infrastructure manager will serve as a key member of the Cloud Services operation team and will be responsible for leading the detailed design, deployment and automation of components of the Data Center Strategy for Entrust Datacard Cloud Service offerings globally.  This Data Center Strategy includes global standardization of Security Zones, Production Environments, LAN / WAN Connectivity, Storage & Compute Platforms, Disaster Recovery and maintaining a high level of service for our customers.  All design components must comply with Entrust Datacard’s strict standards for security, privacy and high availability.  This role will work very closely with Cloud Services teams to ensure all application and operational components are properly integrated into the environment.

  • Lead Cloud Services infrastructure services team to understand the conceptual, logical, and physical designs of datacenter needs
  • Working with the Infrastructure SMEs, drive out the detailed design documents that align to the physical design
  • Ensure a consolidated IP Addressing Plan and Management Process is in place globally and maintained current
  • Ensure a standard naming convention is in place and adhered to globally
  • Ensure network and racking diagram standards are in place and adhered to globally and all diagrams maintained current
  • Working with the Infrastructure SMEs, perform infrastructure product evaluation and selection where required
  • Working with the Infrastructure SMEs, perform infrastructure component sizing where required and establish disciplined approach to address capacity and lifecycle management of infrastructure components
  • Lead the design and architecture of multiple DR environments.
  • Working with the Key Stakeholders and the Project Management to create and maintain Project Workbooks (Action Items, Risk, Issues, Changes, etc) and Work Breakdown Structures (WBS) for all Data Center projects
  • Working with Infrastructure SMEs to automate provisioning and day to day operation tasks, release activities, health reporting and asset management
  • Deployment oversight of all infrastructure components to ensure alignment with the detailed design
  • Assist SMEs with troubleshooting efforts for complex issues that cross multiple infrastructure areas
  • Ensure best practices are followed for automation and verification of Build Book and Run Book completeness
  • Review and verification of Operational Testing completeness
  • Review and verification of Disaster Recovery completeness and test results

 Leadership & People Management = 75%                                                                                                  

  • Perform general management responsibilities such as hiring, performance management, performance reviews, individual development activities, etc.
  • Monitor team performance against department standards, and ensure that these standards are consistently met or exceeded
Technical focus = 25%
  • Act as escalation point for issues and provide leadership and guidance to team
  • Provide necessary work direction and manage projects effectively through planning, organization and project management

 Basic Qualifications
  • Degree in Computer Science, 2 year Diploma/certificate in a technical field or equivalent work experience
  • 10+ years IT experience
  • Experience as a Technical Lead providing ongoing coaching and mentoring to the team
  • 5+ years of High Availability, High Security, Internet Data Centre Experience and the requisite rigor needed to operate in that environment
  • High end infrastructure detailed design skills for all data center components including network, security, server, storage, backup, and virtualization
  • Detailed infrastructure documentation skills and experience
  • Design and deployment experience with most of the following technologies:  Cisco networking, F5 load balancers, Cisco and Juniper firewalls, Cisco UCS servers, NetApp storage, VMWare, Red Hat Linux, MS SQL and PostgreSQL databases.
  • Experience with leading team in building and growing automation capabilities for infrastructure services
  • Willing to travel as required.
  • Must have unrestricted work authorization for Canada and ability to travel freely internationally
  • Ability to obtain a Canadian Government Security Clearance

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated work experience as an IT Manager or equivalent role
  • PKI Infrastructure Experience
  • Knowledge of ITSM/ITIL
  • Global/International Data Center experience
  • Disaster Recovery planning and design experience
  • Infrastructure automation experience
