Position Overview: 

The IT Security Engineer is responsible for the planning and engineering of patching and compliance processes for various Entrust Datacard Systems and customer facing solutions. This includes design and operational work across multiple servers, platforms and supporting technologies.  This position will need knowledge breadth in many technologies and depth in multiple products and solutions.  The environment is mostly Linux and Windows with platform including but not restricted to Web / Application Servers and Databases. This position will report to the Manager, IT Security.

  • Responsible for server OS patch deployment.
  • Responsible for overseeing, tracking, and scheduling all server patching efforts for a large scale enterprise environment.
  • Define patching standards and process to maintain server / solution security compliance across the enterprise environment.
  • Create and maintain operational procedures as needed to ensure patching success rates and will be the main point of communication for security patching.
  • Conduct reviews and provide reporting on patching status and any trends seen to help improve the health of the environment.
  • Define and operationalize automation, implement scripts of all the security patching tasks using tools like Windows SCCM / WSUS / Ansible and subscriptions like Centos Spacewalk, RHEL Satellite.
  • Analyze trends to identify potential patching errors in all OS environments and work with respective teams to ensure those errors do not re-occur in future patching cycles.
  • This critical role will help secure the infrastructure and solutions from medium to critical security threats
  • Maintain and update all patching maintenance windows with the business.
  • Works with and manages cross functional teams to identify operational procedures and best practices in accordance with patch management strategy.
  • Ensures overall compliance levels through patch management standards.
  • Employ continual service improvement though monthly and quarterly patch management metrics reviews.
  • Analyzes trend data to identify potential patch related issues on various images and assists teams in troubleshooting to implement any resolutions/improvements needed for proactive resolution.
  • Communicates patch management process and procedures, working practices, and changes to internal teams and customers.
  • Updates and maintains enterprise patch maintenance windows with the business.
  • Coordinate monthly Windows patching deployments as well as scheduled Linux/Unix deployments.

Basic Qualifications
  • College or University degree
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience working in medium and large size IT Infrastructure Organizations.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in patching Windows / Linux systems.
  • Minimum 2 year Experience in patching Windows / Linux web and application servers. 
  • Basic experience with Windows Server 2008/2012 administration and Red Hat Enterprise Linux (or similar distribution) administration
  • Minimum 2 year experience working with Microsoft WSUS / SCCM.
  • Minimum 2 year experience working with Linux Patching using Satellite or Centos SpaceWalk.  
  • Minimum 2 year experience working with Microsoft PowerShell AND Linux Shell Scripting.
  • Basic Experience with any deployment solution like Ansible, Chef, Puppet.
  • Must be able to lawfully work within the US and have unrestricted work authorization for US 
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with BigIP F5.
  • Experience with VMWare.
