A Hardware Engineer role has arisen at nCipher Security, an Entrust Datacard company based in our fantastic Cambridge Office.   The purpose of this role is to work within a collaborative Security Product Engineering team, playing a role in the implementation, test and review of new hardware designs and in maintaining the company’s existing high quality security product hardware platforms.

Key Responsibilities and Activities

  • Rapidly develop technical domain and product knowledge
  • Carry out the hardware implementation, prototyping, and test activities associated with Agile product development
  • Regularly prototype, integrate and demonstrate hardware platforms as part of “system demos”
  • Undertake hardware maintenance, obsolescence and sustaining hardware activities
  • Support the activities of other Hardware team members
  • Propose enhancements to the way that our products are maintained
  • Plan work collaboratively with the whole Engineering team to ensure that dependencies and planning commitments are understood and observed

 


Skills and Experience

  • At least 2 years of demonstrable experience of working on high performance embedded systems
  • Appreciation of the fundamentals of: analogue, RF, electro-mechanical and mechanical engineering 
  • Understanding of microcontroller development and low power design techniques
  • Some experience working on products with 32 or 64 bit processors, DSP's and high speed memory devices
  • Experience of professional  ECAD systems – ideally Altium
  • Good understanding of Engineering standards and processes
  • Able to achieve at least Baseline Security Clearance
  • Understanding of design for manufacture, test and support
  • Ideally, experience of hardware architectures for security products

Essential Qualifications

Degree qualified, or equivalent, in a relevant technical degree or postgraduate qualification
