nCipher has successfully transformed itself into a people-centric, Agile organisation.   Hardware Engineering roles have arisen as part of a significantly expanded team based in our fantastic Cambridge Office.  

 

The purpose of this role is to work within a collaborative Security Product Engineering team, playing an important role in the design, implementation, test and review of new hardware designs and in maintaining the company’s existing high quality security product hardware platforms.

 

The successful candidate will either have strong existing knowledge of secure product design principles, or be enthusiastic with a demonstrable ability to rapidly acquire domain knowledge.

 
Key Responsibilities and Activities
  • contribute to development of high quality hardware security modules (HSM) meeting the needs of our customers
  • hands-on contribution to development of product subsystems
  • carry out the hardware implementation, prototyping and validation activities associated with Agile product development
  • plan work collaboratively with the whole Engineering team to ensure that dependencies and planning commitments are understood and observed
  • regularly prototype, integrate and demonstrate hardware platforms as part of “system demos”
  • drive continuous self-development

Skills and Experience
  • experience of high speed digital design on high performance embedded systems
  • experience developing products with 32 or 64 bit processors, high speed interfaces & memory devices
  • experience with microcontroller development and efficient low power design techniques
  • experience of professional  ECAD systems – ideally Altium
  • ideally, experience of design and implementation of security products
Key Relationships

People are really important to us, so we’ll need you to develop excellent working relationships with a wide variety of stakeholders and team members, especially:  Product Management; Security Engineers;  Software Architects and Engineers, IVVQ Engineers and NPI Engineers.

 
Essential Qualifications

Degree qualified, or equivalent, in a relevant technical degree or postgraduate qualification
